Rock Eisteddfod
Northern Beaches Secondary College has a proud tradition of participation in the Rock Eisteddfod, having entered for the part six years. In 2009 The production was a unique and twisted version of Oliver Twist called, More or Less. This year the College competed for the first time in the Premier Division and it was a great achievement to make the Grand Final. The student performers and their support crew outdid themselves to come 10th in the State in this much more competitive division. The College entry also received an Award of Excellence for School Community Support.
The Rock Eisteddfod involves over 120 students from years 7 - 12 from across the college campuses with everyone welcome to participate. Students can be part of the performance team or the Backstage crew.
Auditions are held in the first weeks of Term 1 for performers and backstage crew. Rehearsals are on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 5 at Freshwater Senior Campus. Also on the first Sunday of every month from 10 to 2.

2007's entry had an ANZAC theme. Australians were swept up in the initial excitement of WW1 creating a rush of men to enlist. Soon they realised the shocking realities of war. Letters were the only communication with loved ones but families were constantly left trying to fill gaps which censoring left blank and with this came a dreadful wonder: was this the lastletter home?
The 2006 College Rock Eisteddfod entry was “Mary Bryant – her escape from Botany Bay”. It was our version of the mini series and book by Jonathan King about the true life story of one of the most remarkable women in Australian history. She was the gutsy female convict who was sent from Old England to Botany Bay, and managed one of the greatest escapes ever.
2006 was our best year yet for the Rock Eisteddfod. The College came second in the Open Division and won the Sydney Dance Company Award for Best Choreography.
