English

Welcome to the English Faculty at Balgowlah Boys’ Campus!

As a Faculty our aim is to immerse students in a range of activities and experiences to encourage them to:

  • Develop an appreciation and enjoyment of the English language in all its different contexts and text types.
  • Be creative and experimental with language.
  • Use the English language accurately and diversely.
  • Become analytical thinkers.

English is much more than simply reading and writing. English is the exploration and investigation of the way language shapes our understanding of the world we live in and ourselves. Language is our basic unit of communication and therefore any study of it involves the examination of a variety of textual forms (spoken, written and visual) that are apparent in today’s society. This includes everything from the traditional novel and poetry to film and web pages.

Special Programs
