Junior History

History is compulsory for Years 7 – 10 to allow them to meet the demands of the School Certificate.

In Years 7 – 8 each student receives a semester of History followed by a semester of Geography or vice versa. In Years 9-10 each student studies both History and Geography throughout the year.

In Year 7 students begin their studies by investigating just “What is History?” and then continue on to use their skills to delve into Ancient Societies, comparing and contrasting Aboriginal Ancient Society with those from a variety of Ancient Societies including Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Aztecs, China ….the choice is only limited by time!

In Year 8 students undertake the challenge of examining the impact of colonization or European Contact on Aboriginal Society and other Ancient Societies such as those of Japan, the Plains Indians of the USA, and or the Aztecs. The Time Detectives then move on to look at Medieval History and the transition into the Modern World.
